Vicki’s career in education, which spans approximately 36 years, includes a variety of training, experiences, and roles.

She earned a B. S. degree in vision, a B. S. degree in elementary education, and a master’s degree in special education. She holds a teaching certification in elementary education, special education, and in vision. In addition, she was trained by the PA Department of Education to be an Instructional Team Teacher (IST). Her IST training equipped her to be a facilitator of change, to train administrators and fellow teachers, to work collaboratively with teachers in the classroom, and to administer curriculum based assessments.

She has taught in Christian schools and in public schools, in general education classrooms and in special education classrooms, in a residential school (Maryland School for the Blind), and in a university. In addition, she was an itinerant vision support teacher. She also was one of two administrators when Calvary Christian Academy (CCA) in Philadelphia, PA was founded—a school that grew to 1,000 students by its fifth year.

Currently, Vicki is an adjunct professor for Cairn University. In addition to writing, she is often involved with teacher training and speaking (at schools, colleges, and teacher conventions). Recently, she traveled to Hungary to be the Keynote speaker for Romanian kindergarten directors. Her husband, Howie, often travels with her when she speaks.

Several personal experiences have rounded out her training as an educator. Her son’s experiences with ADHD, bullying, and mental illness help her relate to parents. Her own experiences as an individual living with Multiple Sclerosis provide valuable insight.
